What is your typical process for working with a new client?
I usually consult with the students (and parents of younger students) in person or over Zoom first. I like to see an example of work they have done, or a project that they are currently working on. We talk about their goals, their style of learning, and what they consider their strengths and weaknesses. I ask them questions about what they most want to accomplish, and we establish a plan to make that happen. My aim is to have all my students feel comfortable and inspired.
Where do your sessions take place? Do you serve clients outside of your area?
I can see tutoring clients in my home office in Kalama, Washington, or over Zoom. Occasionally I will go to a client’s home or meet in a public place, such as a library, but for an additional fee. Editing work is usually done over the internet/email.
What if I want help with a writing project, not tutoring?
Beyond tutoring, I provide editing and writing services for projects of all types: manuscripts, dissertations, novels or other creative writing, personal and professional correspondence, and just about anything else. This service can range from simple proofreading and copy editing to more comprehensive assistance creating succinct, polished content.
What are your rates? Do you have any discounts available?
Pre-K – 12th Grade: $25 per hour
College students: $30 per hour
Adults (non-students): $35 per hour
I have discounts for pre-paid packages of 5 or 10 sessions. With 9 pre-paid sessions, the 10th is free; with 4, the 5th is $10 off. I also have discounts for referrals.
Editing and writing rates are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
